QUALITY EDUCATION
SDG 4
In this project would be Amil Melendez, Carola Gomez and Uriel Delgado. We would be investigating the SDG#4 The Quality Education. This SDG is about the wrong education that we have. We want to improve that we could have a better education. We want to change the classes to be more interesting, more dynamic so that could get more attention of students. For more than a hundred years, the education has been the same. Students have been thought the same things and in the same way. Also the educational system for teachers and university professor is a problem because it does not benefits them. Our idea with this proposal is to awake the mind of the leaders in charge of our education, to make them realize that if we don’t change the way we teach and the way we benefit our teachers it would ruin the future of our upcoming professionals. We have seen students drop out of college because is not too exciting for them and also we have seen teachers quit their job because they say is not worth the hard work for just a little bit of money and importance they receive.
Like we said before the educational system haven’t change. The educational system was created to meet the demands of the industrial revolution. But to this day it seems that the educational system is unable to meet the different meet the different needs of our constant evolutionary society. According to research’s one of the problems of the educational system is that our schools are overcrowded. The smaller the class, the better the individual student experience. According to a study by The National Center of Education Statics found that 14 percent of U.S. schools exceed capacity. If there is a time where a student needs more attention to succeed the class, if it’s an overcrowded classroom, it would be tougher for a student to learn and also for a teacher to be effective with the class.
The acceptance of this proposal is of great importance for our future. With this proposal we want to improve the percent of kids with education here in Puerto Rico. We want to increase the percent because the number of kids without education or schools closed is higher than kids receiving education and schools fully operational. Also, we believe it is very important because professors and school teachers have prepared all their live to educate and prepared our future professionals and they deserve more pay and more benefits, without them there is no professional. With this we will impact the leaders in charge of the education so they can improve it and make students learn the way that will make it interesting for them. One of the most important things is that education give us knowledge of the world around us and change it to something better. With this proposal we would like to improve for every child, no child left behind.
ESSAY
If we want to talk about the education of Puerto Rico we need to know whent was founded. According with “El Nuevo Dia” this event occur in 1903 with the University of Puerto Rico and the Education Deparment served as the Factory of human capital required the industrializtion project known as “Operation Handas-on-Work”. The education of the entire population was a priority elemento of the country project gestated by the visionary generation of those times.
On the island there have always been problems with the education since it is said that the system education is broken. Why peolpe say things like this? It is because the goverment always control what is taught to students, we don’n know our history because of the books, we know it because of the people who fought for it. Our system is controled for the United States and we learn what they want us to learn, and that’s our problem.
A tecaher named Vanessa Hernández she work for the public system and she gave a point that was mentioned before and is the goverment, “We change of leader every four years but we don’t have any strategy” this is what Vanessa said. I know not everything is fault of the system or goverment but thay are our leaders and they should be worried about us because we are the future of Puerto Rico and we need to know who we are as a united people.
Finally, we need to put someone who really care in charge, someone who can use the funds for something good. If we make a council made of profesinal and professor they could make everything better so we need people who care for the people of Puerto Rico, in addition we need to give to our professionals the oportunity to speak because they are the only ones who works directly with the students and they know what we need to learn. Ur system, our Quality education is still poor because a loto f what they teach us, we can not use it in our profesional lives. That is why we think that the system needs to improve and
